The temple’s most revered site is a Buddha footprint sunk into the rock on the eastern hilltop, 5 feet long and 21 inches wide. Local accounts say it was found by a hunter, and in 1886 King Chulalongkorn came to pay homage to it.
The temple was founded in 1951 and received its royal grant of consecrated land (wisungkhamsima) in 1958. The Fine Arts Department registered the site as an ancient monument in 1954, and in 1955 King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great came to pay homage to the footprint and gave royal funds for its upkeep.
The mondop sheltering the footprint is a small wooden building with a cross-shaped roof. Its south gable is carved with the year B.E. 2474 (1931), and its ceiling is decorated with carved wooden star motifs. It was built by a craftsman named Puk from Wat Ko.
