Wat Maruekhathayawan
วัดมฤคทายวัน
Wat Maruekhathayawan stands next to the Mrigadayavan Palace (Phra Ratchaniwet Maruekhathayawan). It was founded on 31 October 1961 on just over 16 rai of land donated by Nai Lueam Sompha of Ban Nong Khang, and received its royal grant of consecrated land (wisungkhamsima) in 1962.
Because the area was once home to many wild animals such as hog deer, deer and barking deer, the temple was named “Wat Maruekhathayawan”. Its first abbot was Phra Khru Wachira Rangsi.
Its main buildings are a reinforced-concrete ordination hall built in 1957 and a wooden sermon hall built in 1961.
