Huai Mae Prachan Reservoir
อ่างเก็บน้ำห้วยแม่ประจันต์ อันเนื่องมาจากพระราชดำริ · Also: Mae Prachan Dam
A medium-sized royal-initiative reservoir in Nong Ya Plong, where a 2 km earth dam holds back the Huai Mae Prachan stream, watering farms downstream and serving as a local place to relax.
Huai Mae Prachan Reservoir is at Ban Cha Prong in Tambon Nong Ya Plong. Its earth dam is 2,105 m long, 8 m wide and about 21 m high and holds about 42.2 million cubic metres. The Royal Irrigation Department built it, finishing in 2006.
The project goes back to a royal request by King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 17 June 1980 for the Royal Irrigation Department to plan a reservoir quickly for villagers along the Huai Mae Prachan. It now supplies farm and household water in Nong Ya Plong, Ban Lat and Tha Yang districts and helps reduce flooding.
The Office of the Royal Development Projects Board describes the reservoir as a place for recreation and a tourist spot. In 2025 the stream was dredged and weirs were built to add capacity, and a visiting Privy Council team set out plans to develop the area further for tourism.
