Bang Kao Beach

หาดบางเก่า · Also: Hat Ong Naresuan

A quiet beach in Tambon Bang Kao, about 13 km north of Cha-am Beach on the coastal road, unusual for the rows of sugar palms along the shore and its natural seaside plants.

Bang Kao Beach lies in Tambon Bang Kao, Cha-am district. It is also known as Hat Ong Naresuan and is part of the coastline royally named the King Naresuan the Great Coast. Most people in Bang Kao make their living from fishing.

Its signature is the line of sugar palms along the shore, unlike the coconut or casuarina trees of most beaches. Seaside plants such as spinifex grass, flame lily, seablite and khoi trees grow along the sand. The beach is quiet and is also a place to watch the sunset.

Getting there

On the coastal road, Highway 4028 (Khlong Khon–Cha-am), about 13 km north of Cha-am Beach, with parking close to the sand.
