Cha-am Non-Hunting Area

เขตห้ามล่าสัตว์ป่าชะอำ · Also: Cha-am Beach Forest

A 622-rai strip of beach forest on Chao Lai Road, 200 m from Cha-am Beach: the last permanent forest on the Cha-am shore, with hundreds of beach-forest plants, over a hundred bird species and protected butterfly lizards.

The Cha-am Non-Hunting Area was declared in 2003 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment under the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act of 1992. It covers 622.2 rai of beach forest, with Khlong Cha-am running along its northern edge and Chao Lai Road running the length of the area.

It is the last permanent forest on Cha-am's shore. Hundreds of plant species grow here, most of them beach-forest trees, and more than a hundred bird species have been recorded. The area also protects the butterfly lizard, nicknamed the “little dragon of the Cha-am forest”.

The area is run by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation and is open every day from 08:00 to 17:00, free of charge.
