Puek Tian Beach

หาดปึกเตียน · Also: Hat Puek Tian

A quiet white-sand beach between Hat Chao Samran and Cha-am, lined with casuarinas for picnics and known for its statues from the Phra Aphai Mani epic, led by the giant ogress standing out in the sea.

Puek Tian Beach is in Tambon Puek Tian, Tha Yang district, about 21 km from Phetchaburi town, north of Cha-am and south of Hat Chao Samran. The white-sand beach is not very wide but you can swim, and people come to picnic under the casuarinas and enjoy the sea breeze.

Its landmark is a set of statues from the Phra Aphai Mani epic: the ogress Phi Suea Samut, Phra Aphai Mani, Sin Samut and a mermaid. The ogress, about 25–30 m tall, stands in the sea about 40 m from shore and has marked this beach for more than 30 years. The statues were built by the family that owns a beachfront restaurant and this stretch of sand, and visitors can see them free of charge.

In April 2025 the ogress's right arm broke off after seawater corroded its structure; the restaurant planned repairs and set up a donation box on the beach. Lodging, restaurants and souvenir shops are available along the beach.

Getting there

About 7 km south of Hat Chao Samran; or take Phetkasem Road to Tha Yang and turn left at the Irrigation Canal 2 intersection for about 15 km. The beach is about 21 km from Phetchaburi town.
