Wat Tham Rong stands at Khao Tham Rong hill. It was built in 1782 and received its royal grant for an ordination hall boundary (wisungkhamsima) in 1812. It is known for Luang Pho Dam, which has a chain fastened around its ankle.
The single-chamber limestone cave holds ten stucco Buddha images set in crevices of the cave wall. The main image is a large standing stucco Buddha in the gesture of dispelling fear. Near the cave mouth on the north side lies a lacquered and gilded stucco reclining Buddha, now badly damaged.
The key historic structures are three chedis, two at the cave wall and one further out. One of them is a prasat-style chedi with a bell-shaped top and niches holding seated Buddha images on all four sides.
