Ban Laem, Phetchaburi
Wat Khom Na Ram
วัดโคมนาราม · Also known as: Wat Nai Bang Kaeo
Wat Khom Na Ram, formerly called Wat Nai Bang Kaeo, was founded in 1887. It first stood near the coast, but after part of the land was washed away by the sea, the temple was moved about 15 sen to the south.
The new site is higher ground between the mouths of Khlong Bang Thalu and Khlong Pho Phra, on the coastal boat route into Phetchaburi town. A pole was set up in front of the ordination hall to hang a lantern (khom) marking the canal entrance at night, so local people called it “Wat Khom Na Ram”.
The temple received its royal grant of consecrated land (wisungkhamsima) on 21 February 1980. Its main buildings include a part-masonry, part-timber ordination hall built in 1976 and a two-storey Thai-style sermon hall, also part masonry and part timber, built in 1974.
