Wat Khok is a Mahanikai community temple founded in 1627. The Khlong Krachaeng waterway flows past its east side; temples on the bank tend to flood, but this one sits on high ground and stays dry, hence the name Wat Khok ('mound temple').
The old ordination hall probably dated from the Ayutthaya period and was repaired many times; a new hall later replaced it, and its boundary was consecrated in 1975.
Revered images include the hall's principal Buddha, 1.75 m across the lap, made in 1972, and two standing Buddhas 1.30 m tall in the pacifying-the-relatives posture, recorded as late Ayutthaya.
