Hin Lat Waterfall

น้ำตกหินลาด

A waterfall spilling over a stepped rock slab of more than 5 rai in the Khao Krapuk–Cha-am reserve forest near Ban Huai Hin Phloeng, with dozens of stone check dams to bathe in; it flows only in the rainy season.

Hin Lat Waterfall lies in a valley locals call Hup Khao Hin Phloeng, near Ban Huai Hin Phloeng in Tambon Khao Krapuk, Tha Yang district, inside the Khao Krapuk–Cha-am National Reserve Forest. Its water runs down into Huai Hin Phloeng Reservoir.

The stream flows across a huge stepped rock slab of at least 5 rai, and at least 20 stone check dams along it make pools where people bathe. On weekends many villagers and visitors come to play in the water.

The area falls under the Hup Kaphong Watershed Management Unit. A 2016 news report said it had not yet been officially opened as a tourist site; the last part of the way is a dirt track followed by a walk.

When to go

Water flows in the rainy season and continues until late in the year; after heavy rains it can last into the following year.

Getting there

From Tha Yang, head through Tambon Tha Mai Ruak towards the Chang Hua Man royal project. In Tambon Khao Krapuk look for the Soi 5 Ban Huai Hin Phloeng sign on the left and turn before the concrete bridge onto a dirt road. Cars get about halfway and pickups further; the last stretch is on foot (details from a 2016 news report).
