Mueang Phetchaburi, Phetchaburi

Wat Tho Charoen Tham

วัดธ่อเจริญธรรม

Period
late Ayutthaya period (judging from surviving structures)

When the temple was built is not known, but its surviving structures suggest it dates from the late Ayutthaya period. The National Office of Buddhism gives 1941 as its official founding date.

The Thai-style brick-and-stucco ordination hall is five bays long, with a gently curved base and stucco column capitals of lotus and cone design. Inside, a large stucco Buddha in the Subduing Mara posture sits on a stucco-decorated pedestal, with two chief disciples kneeling in homage in front.

The temple also has eight small chedis and a restored bell tower on round pillars with a three-tiered roof.
