Wat Nak

วัดนาค

Period
thought to date back to the Ayutthaya period

Wat Nak stands right next to the Southern Line railway in Chong Sakae subdistrict. It was registered as a temple in 1941 and received its royal grant for an ordination hall boundary (wisungkhamsima) on 9 January 2004.

Wat Nak is one of the old temples of Phetchaburi province. The boundary markers (sema) of its old ordination hall are U Thong-style red sandstone topped with a flower motif, which suggests the temple already existed in the Ayutthaya period.

Its main buildings are the ordination hall (1995), a two-storey Thai-style sermon hall of half masonry, half wood (1978), and a chanting hall in the form of twin Thai houses (1992).
